Everything they do is SO dramatic and flamboyant! It just makes me want to... set myself on fire!
...or how The Gays Made Me Late To Work. Betrayed by my own people!!
So this morning before work, we were watching some episodes of The Office. I can't watch it for very long because it actually just makes me mad that there is no one in my life, or possibly reality, as ideal as this guy:
As I made my way to work I spent much of my time pondering the unfairness of a world that would let you imagine someone like Jim, but then laugh at your knowledge that there's no one like him anywhere. I was pleased to see that the train wasn't bypassing my destination stop this week, which it had been doing for the last few Sundays. I would be on time, and that's a good thing. I walk down 18th towards 5th and what do I see? Throngs of people lined up, watching the Big Gay Parade!! I walk down, thinking how nice it is to see my people, even if I tend to sit out Pride, self-loathing homosexual that I am. Ok, ok, I don't loathe myself. Just... you know. Other gay men. Anyway, the problem presents itself: How to get across 5th? There are barricades along the parade route. I look towards 19th. I look towards 17th. It seems to never end. So many gays. Nowhere for me to cross the street. I turn around and go BACK to the station, get on the L and of course end up at work 15 minutes LATE. But feeling vaguely proud.
BIG week(s):
Tuesday: SUPERMAN (maybe?)
Wednesday: screening of VOLVER with Lily.
Thursday: to Boston for Aimee Mann/Boston Pops with Shawn!!
PLUS I found out today that I get a surprise couple of days off to celebrate Independence Day!! (and of course when I say celebrate Independence Day, what I actually mean is stay in my pjs and watch Six Feet Under)
