you're watching the Tony Awards.
so here's what. I thought Michael Cerveris & Patti LuPone and more importantly, SWEENEY TODD for best revival were robbed. BUT I think it's cool that they're awarding new blood... even if JERSEY BOYS & THE COLOR PURPLE are two shows I have no interest in seeing.
You know, there wasn't really a performance that made me think- I HAVE TO SEE THAT SHOW!! Which is disappointing because this is the one year when I'm watching the Tonys and actually COULD go see a show! Nothing as exciting as seeing Sutton Foster sing "Forget About the Boy" from THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE, Idina Menzel sing "Defying Gravity" from WICKED (which I did get to see & loved) or Norbert Leo Butz doing "Great Big Stuff" from DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS (which i've seen twice now & could see again and again. who hasn't seen it and wants to go??).
Loved seeing Audrey McDonald, but I wish she had the chance to sing.
Julia Roberts? Make it about you, honey... always make it about you.
Paul Rudd wants to marry me.
Molly Ringwald? A little scary.
Ralph Fiennes? Hotter in person. What's cool is that I can say that I saw a Tony-winning performance since Ian McDiarmid won for FAITH HEALER. Awesome.
