starfuckers, inc.

Quick! Which celebrities have you met/seen/stalked (in person, only!)

MET:
1. Christian Bale. This was in 1996 when pretty much geeks who loved NEWSIES and/or Little Women obsessed folk were the only people who were big fans. Oh yeah, I was an original Balehead. He was presenting an award at EPCOT center for Discover magazine. I met up in Orlando with my friend Lisa just to go see. He was then & still is my number one favorite movie person. And he shook my hand. And I fell in love. And should the house ever start to burn down, the first thing I'll save is my picture of us. (And THEN J, as promised) *sigh* (oh yeah, also the chick who played his love interest in PORTRAIT OF A LADY was with him...)

I usually try to keep cool, but I've have openly gushed over two people.
2. Parker Posey. I spoke with her on the phone at my job when I first arrived in the city. I actually said "I LOVE you!" She said, "I love you, too!" She was a hoot!
3. Miriam Shor, who played Yitzhak in "Hedwig & the Angry Inch"- At my work. She was lovely & I think a bit surprised that I recognized her- which I only did after seeing her name as she was sans beard & RENT t-shirt. She was buying THE OFFICE on dvd as well as one of the seasons of WONDER WOMAN. At the time I didn't know, but she had been doing a play at the theatre on Union Square. When I saw her name, I said "Hedwig!" She said, "Yes!" I said, "Wonderful!" Yeah, no one cares, but if you love HEDWIG you'll understand.

Semi-Gush:
4. Daniel V from "Project Runway" (ok, he stopped me to ask where the design books were and I *did* wish him good luck & told him that I was rooting for him. Only to realize later that Fashion Week was over and by then he'd already lost. my bad!)

I've interacted with a few celebs at work, without commenting:
5. Jessica Lange (I helped her find a book, my first celebrity interaction that *wasn't* over the telephone. She was wearing dark glasses, but was just as beautiful as you would imagine.)
6. Sam Shepard (I've seen him in the store at least three times since I started. Although never with Jessica. Once I got to help him, when he asked me where the Poetry section was. My mom was so very jealous.)
7. Ric Ocasek of The Cars. He's in the store a LOT. I rang him up once in music (many Sesame Street dvds. He's got the membership card, too.) but didn't say anything despite being in awe that the guy who wrote some of my favorite songs EVER was standing right in front of me.
8. Eddie Izzard. He was in the music department one day. There were two of us on register but I didn't get him. Dammit. He bought a giant stack of stuff and signed up for the card. I really wanted to tell him how much I loved THE CAT'S MEOW but didn't.
9. Peter Dinklage, of THE STATION AGENT. I had seen him once when J. & I went to see "Sweeney Todd" for my birthday. Then he was in the store, when I worked in music (1st floor is SO much better for sightings). I helped him find a cd folder.

Most of my sightings were stage door rendezvous.
10. Jonathan Pryce, "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels"
11. Gregory Jbara, "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels" (He's a character actor from IN & OUT and A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM)
12. Lee Pace, "Guardians" (He's only the hottest guy on the planet. One of them. He was in SOLDIER'S GIRL and one of my favorite shows, WONDERFALLS. He didn't ask me to marry him and I was too bowled over to say anything because he's probably the best looking person I've ever encountered. Um, I should also mention that he's an extraordinary actor who gave a flawless performance.)
13. Ralph Fiennes, "Faith Healer" (He took the time to sign everyone's playbill, looked you in the eye. Amazing.)
14. Cherry Jones, "Faith Healer" She's maybe someone only theatre people will recognize. She was in "Signs" but I'll always remember her from another amazing & underrated film, "The Cradle Will Rock." She's also an out lesbian, a Tony winner and a Southerner. I wanted to hug her.
15. Ian McDiarmid, "Faith Healer" I guess he is known for being in the new Star Wars films as the Emperor. I've only seen two of them, so I don't really remember him much. He did manage to steal the show from both Ralph Fiennes & Cherry Jones, which is kind of a big deal.

Brief sightings/Run-ins:
16. Chris "Mr. Big" Noth
17. Taye Diggs...
18. & Chad Lowe (on the same night)
19. Robert Sean Leonard (a fleeting glimpse)
20. Patrick Wilson (Once on the L train, once in the store.)
21. Katherine Moening (of The L WORD)
22. Julia Stiles (standing outside of the theatre to see "History Boys")
